Early Film During HSG

Radiograph of a hysterosalpingogram that displays a normal uterine cavity after only a small amount of radioopaque dye has been injected (an early view of the cavity is important to visualize small or subtle defects), a marker (R = right side) for orientation, and a speculum in the vaginal vault (speculums are often removed after the instruments are in place since the speculum can obstruct visualization of the uterus). If the tubes subsequently fill and spill then tubal patency will also be demonstrated, whereas, if the tubes do not fill then this would demonstrate proximal tubal occlusion.
